NAME: Rebecca Carpenter
OCCUPATION: Owner of Children’s Learning Center (basically, I run a zoo)
WHERE WERE YOU BORN: Lower Valley Hospital in Fruita, Colorado. The maternity ward later became an Alzheimer’s Unit where I worked for ten years.
KIDS: I have two grown children, a daughter and son, and four amazing grandchildren with another ready to greet the world any day now.
PETS: Two dogs, Pinny, a min-pin, and Lexi, a lab that is my husband’s diabetic alert service dog
FAVORITE FOOD: Anything Italian. But I also love Mexican food. I love to bake and cook, and homemade marinara sauce is one of my trademarks.
FAVORITE DRINK: Water with a slice of lemon. Root beer for pop. Cherry Limeade for something sweet.
FAVORITE TV SHOW EVER: “The Walking Dead” now. As a child, I had many favorites: “Fantasy Island,” “Happy Days,” “Wonder Woman,” and “Doctor Who.”
FAVORITE SONG EVER: I Wanna Know What Love Is by Foreigner
FAVORITE BAND/SINGER: One Republic
BEST HOLIDAY DESTINATION: In America, a holiday is Christmas, etc. , and for that I say home. But to actually travel somewhere for a vacation, I’d say anywhere with my hubby. Although a romantic beach setting is always a winner with me.
AND WHY THE ABOVE: Can’t think of a better place to celebrate a holiday than home with my family.
FAVORITE ANIMAL: I love and collect turtles. But my favorite insect is the butterfly.
AND WHY THE ABOVE: I think turtles are amazing creatures. Butterflies are incredible in that they can endure metamorphosis.
SPIRIT ANIMAL: The dolphin. They are smart and help others.
TATTOOS: Only temporary when my grandkids share.
PIERCINGS: Just my ears.
FIRST BOYFRIEND/GIRLFRIEND: Reuel Christensen
FIRST KISS: My neighbor’s cousin named Justin Whaley. We were down the trails by my house when it happened. I don’t remember the circumstances, or how it even came about, just that we kissed.
FAVORITE ROOM/PLACE IN YOUR HOUSE: The kitchen. Love to cook and visit over food.
FAVORITE TIME OF DAY: Evening, as the sun is setting, or morning, as the sun rises. Don’t know why, but it brings me peace.
LEFT OR RIGHT HANDED: Right handed.
WHAT CAR DO YOU DRIVE: Toyota Tundra.
DOGS OR CATS: I’m a dog person. Evil-cat nightmares as a kid ruined it for me.
KETCHUP OR MAYO: Totally depends on what I’m eating. But I’d say I’m more of a ranch or mustard person. But I do love a good mayo and fresh tomato sandwhich. And fries with ketchup are the bomb.
MORNING OR NIGHT: Night! Never been a morning person. But I’m not a grumpy morning person.
OUTSIDE OR INSIDE: Outside as much as possible. I go stir crazy if I can’t smell fresh air and feel sunshine on my skin.
MILLION BUCKS OR ABILITY TO FLY: Million bucks. I write books, so I can fly whenever I want. But I’d love to be able to travel the world and not worry about medical bills.
YOUR HERO: My parents. The most unselfish, honest, giving people I know. They taught me character, integrity, how to work, and to be true to who we are.
FAVORITE WORD: Shizzlesticks!
MOST HATED WORD: I don’t have any. But weak verbs bother me as there is typically something stronger, with a clearer meaning, that can be used instead.
USUAL BEDTIME: 10:00 to 11 pm
LAST TEXT MESSAGE: Ok.
LAST PERSON YOU TOLD YOU LOVED THEM: My husband.
ANY PARTY TRICKS: I can tap dance, I’m a great jump-roper, and I can make a dozen donuts disappear in a day.
